Description
Unlike other textile artists making fabric collages, I use a technique that uses very small pieces of fabric to build up the image that I want to show. Within this particular work, despite being only 15cm x 15cm, over 250 individual bits of fabric have been cut out, positioned, bonded onto the backing fabric and overstitched with variegated threads using free-motion machine embroidery. By using this approach, I can get lots of detail and variations in colours and shades within the picture and it also enables me to make use of tiny offcuts of fabrics which might otherwise be discarded.
The scene in this picture, which I have entitled “Old Gate on Harewood Road”, is one of a collection of pieces that show views seen on walks around my home in Holymoorside, near Chesterfield in Derbyshire. Apart from the machine stitching, this piece also includes hand-embroidery for the vegetation in the foreground, providing more texture.
This piece is mounted on a canvas board with the picture wrapped around the sides of the board. It can either be hung on a wall or stood on a shelf or mantlepiece. It would make a unique gift for an art lover.

For most items, I will send your order with Royal Mail, 2nd class, unless you request a different method (such as first class or tracked) in which case an additional charge will be made.
Because I want my business to be as sustainable and ecofriendly as possible, I will send your order in reused packaging if I have any that is suitable. I hope you will agree that it's the quality of what's inside the packet that's important, rather than the aesthetics of the outer packaging.
If you would like your purchase to be sent directly as a gift to a recipient with a different address in UK, please let me know and I will gift wrap the item in tissue paper and include a gift tag with a handwritten message of your choice.

If you wish to cancel your order, please do so within 24 hours of ordering so that I can issue a refund before dispatch.
If there is a problem with your order when you have received it, please contact me within 30 days of your order being placed. I will issue a refund, on the return of the product, providing that it is returned in the same condition as it was dispatched.
