Description

This embroidery is completely made with hand embroidery , some of the stitiches I used for this piece include lots of tiny French knots for the stones and pebbles along the shoreline and some specific shell stiches to represent limpet shells and fan style shells. For the sea I used a satin stitch with a variegated blue tonal silk thread. I love to add a little glitter thread to the sea to show the sparkle from the sun.

The background is a watercolour wash on top of raw silk fabric, this fabric was was lovely to use as it had a rough texture but also a lovely sheen to it which I think adds to the overall feeling of this piece.

I always neaten the back of the hoop with a piece of felt in a matching colour. This is stitched in place using blanket stitch and is the ready to hang straight on your wall. It can be hung straight on a hook or nail by the screw at the top of the hoop ,or you could add a bit of string or ribbon if you prefer.
