by Marion Walsh

£20.00

Small decorative raku-fired pot to use as a trinket dish, a jewellery holder or for small candle or a tealight (not suitable to hold water or food). The black colour comes from smoke. The inside of the pot was glazed with copper which turns turquoise/green when oxidised.

Approx. size: height: 8 cm  Diameter: 12cm at rim, 5cm at base.

Raku  is traditionally characterized by low firing temperatures (resulting in a fairly porous body); and the removal of pieces from the kiln while still glowing hot and put directly into water or allowed to cool in the open air. Originally from Japan, Raku techniques have been adopted and modified by contemporary potters worldwide.
