Description
Near my home in Holymoorside, close to Chesterfield in Derbyshire, there is a group of three oak trees near the top of a hillside. Two of the oaks grow so close together that they appear as one and the third is hidden from view behind the other two as you approach the trees heading uphill. The pastureland surrounding the trees has a public footpath through it and is a walk that we often take. The scene has been transformed into this fabric picture which measures 5 x 7 inches, approx. 12.7 x 17.8 cm. It is part of a collection that I have been working on this year called “Walks Around Holymoorside” and I have already sold four of the seven that I have completed, including an autumn version of this scene.
For the picture, I have used cotton batik fabrics – mostly leftovers from other projects, including tiny offcuts for the tree foliage – and have added further detail, particularly to the pastureland, with free machine stitching using variegated threads. It is mounted on foam mountboard using a stretch mounting technique and is offered simply unframed as a mounted art work for you to display as you choose, or in a frame. The framed version is in a grey frame with a white surround and is presented without glass so that the texture of the fabric pieces and embroidery can be appreciated.
This is a companion piece to “Windyfields Oaks in Winter” and the two are shown together in the final photo. Contact me for a discounted price if you wanted to order both at the same time.
If you weren’t wanting this item for yourself, it would make a delightful gift.
Your order will be sent by Royal Mail tracked service, the cost of which is included in the price.
