If you (or someone who you need to buy a gift for) loves sewing, this unique needle case would be a practical and attractive addition to any sewing kit. Made from assorted ribbons and braid in shades of red, orange, yellow and black and a cream lining, it contains four felt “pages” providing lots of space for storage of needles and pins.

Description

I have made the outside of this case by weaving together assorted ribbons and braids which I then bonded and stitched in place.  I have backed with Decovil, a fusible interfacing that feels like leather and makes the case robust.  The lining is cream vintage damask fabric  and inside there are four pages made from felt which have been machine stitched around the edges with blanket stitch.

The case closes with a ribbon loop over a black and gold button.

The case measures 10cm x 10cm when closed (4 x 4 inches)

I don’t know where I’d be without my needle case which I have used as the basis for this design.  I’m sure it would make a lovely gift for someone who enjoys sewing or is embracing the ethos of mending rather than throwing out items of clothing showing wear.  I have two others also available as shown in the final photo.
