A Zero Waste Workshop
I have a zero waste workshop – there is no ‘rubbish bin’. Everything that I can re-use, I do. Moulding (frame) off cuts are used for fire kindling in the winter. The bubble wrap I package my frames in is re-used (it’s what my suppliers have sent my materials in). I offer a bubble wrap buy-back service which refunds money to you when you send it back to me – so that I can use it again, and again, and again… Everything I can’t reuse is recycled: all metal, plastic, cardboard, cork, wood – right down to the smallest tack, blade, tape, and label – are sorted and taken to recycling points. Finally, everything I cut is cut by hand. (The only power tools in my workshop are my cordless screwdriver and my radio!)
