Vendor Biography

Happiness is having a hammer in one hand, a piece of metal in the other and a cuppa handy.

I’ve always loved making things and also seeing what others have created. There are so many talented creative people around and this was what inspired me to sign up to a silversmithing course a few years ago.

So, having gained a BA (Hons) in Silversmithing & Jewellery from Truro College I am very fortunate to be able to spend my days working from my spare bedroom with various metals, from recycled copper and bronze to silver and gold along with precious and semi-precious stones.

I don’t have a particular style as much of my work is to commission. I love working from someone else’s ideas and sketches, it’s sometimes quite challenging and sometimes quite complicated but it’s lovely to see where their imagination goes and to try to give them something that fits in with that and this in turn sometimes gives me ideas for the future. What could be better than that.

My makers mark is registered with the Birmingham Assay Office. Not all of my silver pieces are hallmarked, only those weighing 7.78 grams of silver and over legally have to be fully hallmarked. Where possible I mark other items with my makers mark only, which is KYS.

I’ve exhibited at:
This Way Up. Truro College Art Exhibition.
Page-Turner. Truro College Art Exhibition.
Pewter Live, London. New Designers, London.
Porthminster Gallery, St Ives. Pewter Now exhibition, Sheffield.
Marshchapel Art Exhibition. Lincolnshire.
Grainthorpe Festival of Arts. Lincolnshire.
